In need of a plan.

This is my fourth week of working a full-timejob; Monday to Friday, 8:30-4:30.  I know!  Sweet hours and weekends off so I'm not complaining.  I'm just struggling to fit everything in that I want to and it is only going to get worse with hockey season starting for the boys in a couple weeks.  In August I may have run 3 times and biked twice which results in me feeling mediocre. I've been trying to run/bike when I get home from work.  Unfortunately this is also the time when I should be making supper not to mention the time that Larrin usually asks me to "look at a cow", "doctor a cow", help with milking, or AI a cow.  Needless to say....not working.  I used to wait until after chores to go but for a run or bike but after working all day, cleaning up after supper and it getting darker earlier this isn't working either. Which leads me to....getting up earlier to exercise.  When I think about this I see a huge mountain and I quickly think of why thi

100 pushup challenge

I've started to do pushups in an attempt to keep my arms from developing "lady wings".  A blog that I follow had this website posted a while back and I've decided to rise to the challenge. http://hundredpushups.com/ You basically do an initial test which informs you of where to start in the training.  You then do pushups 3 days of the week following the handy dandy little table.  I could do 26 pushups during my initial test so I got to start on week 3.  So in just 4 weeks I should be able to do 100 pushups without stopping. In other news, my husband laughed at me when I couldn't do 30 pushups.  I bet him he couldn't do 40 and then he proceeded to do over 50.  How's that for motivation!!

Meet the Quackers

As I mentioned before, our pair of ducks, Bill and Sandra, had three ducklings.  They are super cute and growing like weeds. Bill and Sandra I think we have two boys and one girl.  There is one that is noticeably smaller than the other two so I have dubbed her the female.  We won't know for sure until they get bigger and their markings come in. Carl, Gerald, and Petunia Having ducks and chickens in the backyard has been a real educational experience for the boys.  Just the other day Arlen came out of the bathroom and proclaimed, "Mommy, I know why you don't pee standing up.  It's because you lay babies." I told him that idea was "close" and I'd explain later.  Oh boy!

Life's a blur lately....

I've decided to take the time and write another quick summary of what's happening in my world.  Last time it was 22 days in between blog postings and it's now only been 14 days so I'm way ahead! I was successful with my job interview and now have a permanent full time position at the health unit.  I am now a public health nurse on the communicable disease/infection control team in the department of clinical services.  Had my first day today and it went awesome.  I have a great feeling about this position because it combines both my science and nursing degrees. We went on an amazing "family vacay" (Arlen's words) to the Toronto Zoo, Blue Mountains Resort, Thursthill Farms and then Peterborough to visit more friends.  We had an awesome time and both Larrin and I felt totally relaxed.  Pictures to follow soon. Ducklings and chicks are growing strong; we haven't lost any to mysterious attacks.  While away, my awesome father caught the creature that was
